Reet Marten Sehr is an educator, consultant, former curriculum developer, course facilitator and Faculty Advisor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. She has previously worked as a teacher, principal, Education Officer with the Ontario Ministry of Education, and has been involved in numerous international education projects, including in Estonia. 

Reet is Chair of the Estonian Central Council in Canada, Canadian representative on the Estonian government’s Global Estonian Advisory Committee, board member of Global Estonian NGO and the Estonian World Congress.  Reet was an elected Canadian delegate to the Congress of Estonia.

She is a member and former chair of Korp! Filiae Patriae and a longtime former board member of St. Peter’s Estonian Lutheran Church.  She belongs to both Estonia and Ööbik choirs and has sung in seven Estonian Song Festivals. Reet is a proud mother of four children and ten grandchildren, who are active in the Toronto and Stockholm Estonian communities.

Kadri Nõmmik Munro has been active in the Estonian community her entire life. Currently, Kadri serves on the Audit Committee for Seedriou Estonian Children’s Summer camp. Previously, Kadri volunteered for fifteen years on the Board of Seedrioru.  She held various positions over the years: Chairman, Vice - Chairman, Secretary and Camp Co-ordinator. Kadri continues her work as Advisor to the Estonian Põhjarada Guides, secretary to the Estonian Guiders Council in Canada, and assistant leader of the Estonian Scouts and Guides Malev in Canada. Kadri was previously the District Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner and in various leadership roles in the guide group Põhjala Tütred. Noticing that there seemed to be a lot of Estonians in her new hometown of Collingwood, last February she founded the Georgian Bay Estonians Grupp and organized a get together of Estonians from the area.

Kadri sings in St Peter’s Church Women's Ensemble, "Helin" and sang in the Hamilton Estonian Society Mixed Choir and the guides' singing group, "Leek." She is a graduate of the Estonian Schools in Toronto and has danced in the Kungla folk dance group. In 2015, she was voted in as a Seedrioru Honorary Member. In 2014, she was awarded the EKN Teenetemärk decoration.

Marta Kivik

Marta Kivik has been an active member of Toronto’s Estonian community most of her adult life. For more than forty years, she worked alongside Ilmar Heinsoo in his insurance brokerage  as well as the Consulate of Estonia,  located in the same office, serving and  providing consular assistance to  Estonian citizens throughout the Soviet occupation of Estonia  and after  the restoration of Estonian independence in 1991.

Marta has been a member of the Estonian Central Council since 1980 and on its Board for over thirty  years. From 1988 to 1991, she was President of the Calgary Estonian Association and also taught at the local Estonian language school.

In the mid-1980s, Marta led a successful campaign in Canada, working alongside the U.S. Committee, to secure the release of three-year-old Kaisa Randpere from occupied  Estonia after her parents defected to Sweden.

She is a former chair of Korp! Amicitia sorority and of the ÖöbikAcademic Choir, where she has sung for more than twenty years. Marta also served as organist for Toronto’s two Estonian Lutheran congregations and was a longtime volunteer at Ehatare Retirement and Nursing Home.

She is a member of the Board of Estonian Museum Canada (VEMU) and a  volunteer with its archive committee.

Above all, Marta is a proud mother of two children and grandmother of six grandchildren.
