Toronto - The Estonian community in Canada joins the Ukrainian and Persian communities in Canada, and indeed all Canadians, in mourning the victims of Wednesday’s tragedy in Iran. “Our hearts and thoughts go out to the affected communities and the families of all the victims,” said Estonian Central Council in Canada President, Marcus Kolga.

Toronto - The Estonian Central Council in Canada and the Estonian community in Canada strongly condemn the vicious anti-semitic violence that took place in Monsey, New York during a local Chanukah celebration.

The rise of anti-semitism around the world is a very serious concern. The Estonian community in Canada stands with Canada’s Jewish community in condemning it and calls for greater action to combat it.

OTTAWA – The Estonian Central Council in Canada (EKN) is calling on the Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada to remove their candidate in the Nova Scotia riding of Sydney-Victoria in light of a report about a number of deeply offensive social media posts by the candidate, Jaime Battiste.

The sexist and racist nature of the posts are inexcusable, including the grossly insensitive glorification of Soviet symbols which is deeply insulting to Estonian Canadians and the millions of Canadians whose families fled Soviet terror.
