Toronto- Members of the Estonian Central Council in Canada will be participating in the annual World Estonian Council meeting in Tallinn May 3-5, 2018 in Tallinn.
The World Council will be considering policy proposals adopted and first introduced by the Estonian Central Council in Canada, in Fall 2017, urging the Estonian government to improve communications and coordination with the 200 000 Estonians living abroad.
The Estonian World Council’s (EWC)annual meeting will take place in Tallinn from May 3-5, 2018. The first and third day will be devoted to the Council’s general business meeting at the Park In by Radisson Meriton hotel. A seminar and panel open to the public will take place on Friday, May 4, beginning at 10 am, in the Estonian Parliament conference room, thanks to the assistance of Parliament chairman Eiki Nestor. This week, the so-called “Five Eyes” security group – Britain, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada – met to talk about cyber attacks, mostly from Russia. The U.S. and U.K. also issued a warning that Russia has been heavily involved in cyber and disinformation attacks.
It can no longer be ignored that Canada is one target of Kremlin disinformation aimed at subverting our democracy and alliances.
